I GOT SHOT IN THE FACE | en

Formed when self-absorbed and utterly narcissistic front man Jeff Ventimiglia found himself reeling from the loss of his beloved Hopesfall rip-off band, Winterdale Calls. Jeff felt he needed to reclaim his stake at the top of the "valley metalcore" totem pole and the project he had in mind would surely catapult him back to such a spot. With songs composed soley on his high-tech computer audio program (Tabit) and breakdowns written down phonetically in a notebook, Jeff sought out friends from other local bands to take part in this endevour. He enlisted Ryan of My Vegas Heart shame to pull guitar duties while Andrew from Tiptoe Charlies took over on bass. Alfred (who played drums in Winterdale) also joined the mix along with Nick (from Tiptoe Charlies as well) on second guitar. After a few practices and a couple of songs written Jeff decided he no longer wanted Ryan in the band and thus the addition of second vocalist Bryan came to be. Bryan was known to mock Ryan for his interests in samurai's and dressing like he was from the year 2095 and thus Jeff believed would be able to make Ryan quit the band. Jeff's efforts were all for naught as Bryan took to mocking Jeff's unkempt and homeless like appearence instead of harrassing Ryan.

After a couple practices and a few songs finished the band took to booking their first show with a couple of of local friends bands at the Cobalt Cafe in beautiful Canoga Park, CA. Within seconds of the first (of many) palm muted notes being played the crowd went crazy to the sounds of one breakdown after another breakdown into another breakdown to a taco beat part and then on to yet again another breakdown. The band went on to play 39 shows that summer at the Cobalt Cafe alone. After a life altering performance with SoCal's own tech-mosh legends The Faceless, record executive Adam Paul of Count It Recordings took interest in releasing the bands debut full length. After lengthy negotiations between the bands management and Count It Recordings the band signed a recording contract valued at $499. Immediatly after the band went into the studio to produce the gem that is How Am I Not Myself.

On the heels of the release the band played countless amounts of shows with incredibly influencial acts such as Shotgun No Battle, Job For A Cowboy, and XFightXXXEveryoneX. With a growing fanbase mostly consisting of prepubesent boys with girl's haircuts and fat metalhead kids that didnt "get it", the bands popularity exploded. The band also got a suprisingly large following in the gay community thanks to guitar player Ryan's openly homosexual lifestyle. With sales of the album soaring and live shows comming kinda close to selling out once at this place in Northridge, record execs came knocking down the bands door.

Amidst the promises of cavier and soundscans in the millions the band became disillusioned. The bands obivous drug addictions surfaced and their music suffered. The band attempted to release an untitled E.P. with a song that did not incorporate a breakdown or a beloved two-step part. Prospective record labels were not impressed and no longer were interested in the project. A band meeting was held at a nearby Chiptole and the decision was made that the band should no longer exist. I Got Shot In The Face's last show was on October 21st, 2006 in Moorpark, CA. .
