The band was formed in 1986 in Leningrad, USSR, by three classmates. The original line up was Alexander Luk'yanov on guitar, Dmitriy Babich on bass, Igor Saikin on drums and Kolya Michailov on vocals. The first album "Brigadniy Podryad" was recorded in Fedor Lavrov's home studio and released by DIY-distribution. Gigging in Soviet Union was really dangerous. Rock and especially punk musicians were regularly having problems with government and police. So the performing activity of BP at this period wasn't rich. Nevertheless, from the beginning and till our days BP uphold a reputation as one of the best Russian live bands. In 1988 the main song writer and guitarist Alexander Luk'yanov went to army and Yuriy Sobolev became a new member of BP. Till 1991 BP recorded one more album (1988) and had several impressive gigs. BP along with other legendary Russian rock-bands, such as "ДДТ", "Кино", "Алиса", "АукцЫон", "Аквариум", was a member of Leningrad Rock-Club. In 1992 Alexander Konviser came on vocals to BP. He was a schoolboy in school where Alexander Luk'yanov worked after army as a teacher of physical culture. In 1992-93 Konviser together with Kolya Michailov recorded in school radio shack two albums "Rozovaya Voda" and "Rock-n-Royal". The next years were not very active, some gigs, line-up changes, managing problems. But since 1997 band began gigging and working at studio again. In 1999 BP recorded and released "Reanimatory" featuring old hits "Kirovskiy Zavod", "Soloviy", " Baden-Baden", "Kobzon" and new tracks. Two years later "SOS Records" released "Idiot" album, including such songs as "Ivan Fuckov", "Schkolnoye Lubovishe". Line-up at this period: Alexander Konviser on vocals, Yuriy Sobolev on guitar, Igor Mosin on drums and Dmitiy Petrov on bass. Single "Idiot" rose to the third place in national radio charts and BP was invited for the first time to perform at 1 Russian rock-festival "Nashestvie" (audience – more then 70.000 people). The next album "Nasilye and Sex" was released in 2003 and gained wide popularity. Single "Popsa" from that album became a national rock-hymn and was covered by top Russian rock-artists. At the same year Yuriy Sobolev left and Alexander Luk'yanov has returned to the band (since 1998 he didn't participate in BP activities) with new songs entered into the albums "Krasota sogret etot mir" (2004) and "Tak ne dolgno byt'"(2006). Between these two releases BP got a tribute, which was recorded by Michail "Горшок" Gorshenev, leader of "Король и Шут", as a welfare work to improve living conditions of Kolya Michailov. Michailov who was a real eccentric and true punk got a craniocerebral injury in 1998, but this fact didn't prevent him of continuing his alcohol adventures. By the 2005 he was vagrant. Michailov died in April 2006 soon after the gig in St. Petersburg dedicated to BP 20-th anniversary. In May 2007 BP organized in Moscow its own punk festival "Uroki punk-roka" ("Punk-rock lessons") for the young hopeful punk bands. BP is planning to make it regularly in big cities of Russia and neighbor countries. Band-members find a lot of time for BP-fans including regular contacts in Internet using official forum and official blog.
