1) Zara (Zarif) Pashaevna Mgoyan is a Russian pop singer and actress. Zara comes from a Kurdish family of Armenia.
Born on July 26, 1983, Zara is the brightest among young performers of St. Petersburg. She is beautiful, charming and talented. She has her unique stage style, which combines the best pop-music, romances and ethnic influences.
Zara has reached a lot. Among her achievements there are several CD's: "The Heart of Juliet" (maxi-single, 1996), "Zara" (2000), "Where the River Flows" (2002), "Best of" (2003), "Don't Leave Me Alone" (2005). Zara's live concert was released on VHS - she had three live solo shows all in all, to the accompaniment of the symphony orchestra, and each was a huge success. Zara was also given the main female party performance in a rock opera "Orpheus and Eurydice", becoming scenic partner of Albert Assadulin.
Recently Zara graduated from the Theatrical Academy. She took part in TV-series like "Favorsky", "Life and Death of Lyonka Panteleev" and many more, as well as in a bunch of feature films like "Demon" by Irina Evteeva, for instance.
Zara is singing since the age of 12, having collected an impressive number of prizes and awards at various vocal competitions, where her skill was estimated by Makhmud Essambaev, Iosif Kobzon, Yuri Malikov, Andrey Petrov and other masters of Russian show business.
In November 1999 young star was prized with the award of the St.-Petersburg science and culture representatives "Star of Prometheus", founded by the academician Dmitry Likhachev. In 2000 Zara became the winner of the first St. Petersburg young performers' competition "Spring of Romance". In the same year the singer receives "Hope of Russia" diploma for the creative achievements throughout 1998-2000.
In 2006 Zara participated in the music tv-show "Star Factory 6" and took the third place.
Until 2004, she professed Yezidism, but has since converted to Russian Orthodoxy.
