Обратен ефект (Reverse Effect) are Bulgarian rock/ska/funk band, formed in Sofia, Bulgaria in 2000. The original lineup consisted of Мони, Кольо, Драго, and Яко.

The group existed back in the 90s as a band called “Electric Shock”, playing thrash metal and releasing one album, which didn’t gain much success on the market. Therefore the guys decided to change their name to Обратен Ефект and their style to more radio-friendly and ska sound, using funny and sarcastic lyrics, often parodying other songs and styles of music in their own.

The first album under the new name, Ефектен Обрат (“Efekten obrat”) was a giant success in Bulgaria, containing super hits like За Марчето (“Za Marcheto”, "For Marcheto"), Моля ви, мадам! (“Molya Vi, Madam” "Please, Madam''), Карагьоз (“Karagyoz”), and the song Плис-плис, морски бриз, a powerful ska parody of the Beatles. The whole album had predominanlty ska sounding, except for the song "И белите могат да скачат" (And white people can jump), which was more hard rock oriented.

For the next album, the 2001 Вервайте ни (“Vervaite ni”), the guys decided to apply some hard rock elements on their ska songs, combining this with a good dose of traditonal Bulgarian folklore, which resulted in a very interesting tracks like the <> Булгариш (“Bulgarisch”), the <> Павел ми пие (“Pavel mi pie”, "Pavel drinks"), the modern folk Девойко (“Devoyko”, "Maid") and the hardest track on the album Полет (“Polet”, Flight). .
