Christabel and The Jons | en

In the fall of 1987, Icelandic radio personality Þorsteinn Joð decided to gather some musicians and host a concert where they would play songs from the Blues Brothers soundtrack. The party was a blistering success and a few months later, keyboard player Jón Ólafsson called on some of the musicians to form a band. Among them were singer Stefán Hilmarsson and guitar player Guðmundur Jónsson who have been the core members of Sálin hans Jóns míns through the years while other band members have come and gone. They were inspired by old American soul and funk groups and had "soul...
Christabel Dreams was created in Rome at the end of 2005. Christian Gatti (voice), Federico Viola (guitar) and Emmanuele Viola (bass and programming) had the aim to relive some gothic and new wave sound of the early 80's. First self titled work was launched in 2007, four songs which show clearly the intentions of the band. During the same year CD did a debut concert in Rome and a few months later the first response about their work by goth magazines and webzines. In 2008 'Life That Never Was' and 'Candlelight' had gone to be included in foreign compilations. About...
Jónsi is a pseudonym of, at least, two Icelandic artists: 1) Jón Þór Birgisson is the lead singer and guitarist for Sigur Rós and half of Jónsi & Alex, known for his soft falsetto voice . He released his solo debut album, Go, on April 6, 2010. Birgisson grew up in Iceland, raised by parents who weren't particularly musical; his early memories include playing The Beatles at double speed on his turntable and listening to and playing along with Iron Maiden records. You can hear him speak at length about his musical past and loves in a recent episode of...
First time on CD for British progressive rock rarity, described in prog rock bible 'The Tapestry Of Earthly Delights' as 'an album full of spooky psychedelia with progressive leanings'. Motherlight was the brainchild of (top psych act) the Orange Bicycle's Wilson Malone (producer/arranger for Iron Maiden, Simple Minds, Massive Attack & The Verve), plus engineer/producer Andy Jons & producer Mike Bobak. Known by the name of an album rather than the name of the group, Motherlight produced an album full of spooky psychedelia with progressive leanings, which works really well. Almost all tracks have a slightly unsettling atmosphere, originating in...
