Don McLean (born October 2, 1945 in New Rochelle, New York) is an American singer-songwriter, most famous for his 1971 song "American Pie", released from the album of the same name, about the plane crash that killed Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and The Big Bopper (Jiles Perry (J.P.) The band, consisting of David Anthem (vocals), Paul Waggoner (guitar), Tommy Rogers (guitar), Will Goodyear (drums) and Marc Duncan (bass) formed in 1996, going through numerous member changes up until 1997. The name Coyote Oldman is derived from the Trickster archetype in Native American mythology. Their music can be described as New Age electronica. The duo play Japanese and Indian flutes, Incan pan-pipes, ocarinas and Native American pipes, as well as contemporary instruments such as guitars and keyboards. Barry Stramp is a classical-trained concert flautist, while Michael Allen is a manufacturer of handmade flutes as well as being a musician. .
