Nascido em Cachoeira de São Felix, Bahia a 120 km de Salvador, em 3 de julho de 1955, Edson Gomes no ardor da adolescência, pensou em ser um craque de futebol. Aos 16 anos, porém a tendência musical foi mais forte e ele abraçou a carreira artística, ao ganhar o 1o lugar num festival estudantil do colégio estadual de sua cidade natal. Born in Toronto, Canada, to a Portuguese father and a French-Canadian mother, Gomes began playing guitar in his early teens and was drawn to the blues sounds of BB King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix. While hoing his skills in the blues bars at night, Gomes earned a Master's Degree from the University of Toronto in the 'Racial Evolution of Blues'.
