Paul McCartney and Wings were a rock music band led by Paul McCartney, formed a couple of years after the dissolution of The Beatles. It achieved widespread popularity during the 1970s despite continual personnel changes. In 1971, drummer Denny Seiwell, and ex-Moody Blues guitarist and singer Denny Laine, joined Paul McCartney and wife Linda McCartney to record Paul's third post-Beatles project. The result was Wild Life, the first project to credit Wings. The band name is said to have come to McCartney as he was praying in the hospital while Linda was giving birth to their second child together, Stella...
The Detroit Symphony Orchestra (aka DSO) was founded in 1914 in Detroit, Michigan. Its most famous music directors were Paul Paray (1951-1962), Antal Doráti (1977-1981), and Neeme Järvi (1990-2005). Paray, Dorati, and Järvi each recorded a large and diverse set of music with the orchestra. Paray's greatest legacy with the DSO is his recording of Russian and French moderns: Saint-Saens, Ravel, Stravinsky, and others. Doráti is notable for his fondness for Eastern European composers. Järvi, while maintaining an interest in Eastern European composers, was a dedicated exponent and developer of American classical and jazz music. Järvi has continued to conduct...

An obscure nugget that has been thankfully unearthed and given to the funk Masses, The Detroit Sex Machines are the epitome of underground funk. The group's music was rediscovered in a Michigan area vinyl collection (circa 2000). Soon after, members of the band were found and re-release of the material from this late '60s/early '70s band was issued. The DSM song “Rap It Together” wound up on the Ubiquity compilation "Searching for Soul." Since then, hardcore funk fans have been digging deep for more from this Motown group. .
