Pelzig is a German project having its origin in Ingolstadt, Bavaria. The band consists of 4 members: Christian Schulmeyer (vocals), Christian Schaller (bass), Rainer Schaller (guitar) and René Arbeithuber (drums). The latter two are also members of the established German indie band Slut. So far they have recorded 'The Car Compilation' (1997), 'Drive Busy' (1999), 'Drive Your Engine Clean' (2002) and 'Safe In Its Place' (2004). .
Erwin Pelzig is the best-known character of the German comedian Frank-Markus Barwasser. Barwasser is famous for his usage of the Franconian dialect and the ability to play three of his characters at the same time (Erwin Pelzig, Hartmut and Dr. Göbel). He is mainly known in Bavaria. .
