Red Fang are the result of the band Party Time recruiting Aaron Beam and eventually changing their name. David Sullivan had previously been a guitarist in Facedowninshit, also a Portland, OR outfit; he also played alongside Giles and Sherman in a band called Party Time. Giles also spent time in a band called Last of the Juanitas. Aaron Beam played bass for Dark Forces and Lachyrmator before Red Fang’s inception. Sherman, in addition to Party Time, played drums for Bad Wizard, Truman’s Water, and All Night before being recruited to Party Time, who would eventually change their name to Red...
Over three decades ago, the band that would become Blue Oyster Cult created two albums' worth of recordings for Elektra, using a different name for each album's sessions, first Oaxaca and then The Stalk-Forrest Group, and, after delivery of the finished recordings to Elektra, neither album was ever released. Though they were signed as Soft White Underbelly, and are now known as The Stalk-Forrest Group, they began recording tracks for their first Elektra album using the name Oaxaca. Ten tracks were completed in early 1970. Though recollections are sketchy, it appears that Elektra Records were none too pleased with these...
White Fang is four lifelong friends (Erik Gage, Kyle Handley, Jimmy Leslie, Chris Uehlein). Formed in Portland, OR in 2005 while still in high school, first as a recording band, then as a folk band, then as a punk band, then as a noise band, then as a punk band again. There used to be a lot of people in the band, rotating on a undefined lineup, including past, present and future members of Boom! and Typhoon. The band has four (4) albums; Pure Evil (2008, Marriage Records), Whatever (2009, Marriage Records), Grateful to Shred (2011, Marriage Records) and Positive...
David Moufang has recorded some of the greatest electronic music ever. An important staple of the genre, David Moufang hardly needs an introduction. If you aren't familiar with the name David Moufang, maybe you have heard of one or more of his other projects: Deep Space Network, Earth to Infinity, Reagenz, Koolfang, Conjoint, and of course Move D. The labels he has released material for read like a who's who of ambient music: FAX, Instinct, Reflective, Source, Rising High, Beyond, Elektrolux, Astralwerks, Warp and many more. One of the most prolific Silent Records artists, he is arguably best known for...
Pure Evil From Philadelphia Existing in the musty shadows of the Philly scene, Far-Out Fangtooth have built a most unique foundation of sound, mixing early Cramps swamp / garage blackout, nascent Bauhaus post-punk / quasi-goth bleakness as well as an uncanny nod to the witchy, ethereal leather glam of first-generation Blue Öyster Cult. Their debut LP, Pure & Disinterested (on Siltbreeze Records), follows a limited-edition 7-inch for local label Ian! Records. The Philly four-piece loves its ambience. Crash cymbals sound like rattling sheet metal, double-tracked guitars rumble like an amp on the fritz, and vocals wander in a nervy, unsteady...
