JAZZANOVA's Sonar Kollektiv label celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2007. They took the occasion to form the Sonar Kollektiv Orchester - a super-group made up of label artists and friends. This fifteen musician strong ensemble is almost a big band and so truly earns the name “Orchester” (Orchestra). The complete instrumentation is 3 vocals, 4 strings, 3 horns and a full rhythm section. The music generated by Village Kollektiv is the first fusion of electronic sonances with the “live” sound of original instruments and singing. Traditional musical roots together with the computer score constitute an integrated circuit, creating a new sound space, in which the expression of the words of the “folk” can take full shape. Musicians use traditional melodies originating from the Kurpie region and collected from the people of the Bulgarian Šopluk region. Kollektiv Turmstrasse is a project initiated by the musicians Nico Plagemann and Christian Hilscher from Luebeck, Germany. Both of them are linking not only their deep ambitions to electronic music with this project - they also link their passion for performing together.
