Iivanainen's first professional performances came in her late teens, and her very first touring ensemble was Khamos, which hailed from her Northern home town of Oulu. The singer's first truly noteworthy ensemble was called Free Control. Kolmas Nainen is a rockband from Alavus, Finland formed in 1982. They became famous after placing second in the 1984 Finnish Rock Championships, although they scored the same points as the winner Peer Günt. The best known member of the band is singer Pauli Hanhiniemi. Other members are drummer Pasi Kallioniemi, bass player Raimo Valkama, guitarist Sakari Pesola and guitarist Timo Kivikangas who replaced Timo Löyvä.
