In 1993 Morten Henriksen (ex-Cosmic Dropouts, now fronting the splendid powerpop quartet The Yum Yums) organized several gigs in Norway for the Devil Dogs whose singer/bass player Steve Baise got to know his later Norwegian wife at one of the shows. Since Steve was now quite frequently coming back to Norway Morten had the idea of creating a Devil Dogs cover band with buddies Thomas Seltzer and Knut Schreiner featuring Steve Baise himself on the vocals. Seminal doo wop group the Del-Vikings were trailblazers in two senses: first, showing that a racially integrated group could achieve mass success, and, second, showing that line-up changes, label shenanigans, and other difficulties could snuff that success despite multiple pop hits.
