1) Swedish heavy metal band Overdrive was formed in 1980 and recorded the MLP "Reflexions" and two albums "Metal Attack" and "Swords And Axes" before splitting in 1985.

other than a soundtrack to a movie a great one at that. taxidriver was also the name of a rather good mid to late 80's punk band. formed in 1986 and split in 1990 during their initial years of activity no real recordings were made and so they got back together a decade later to record all their material and released tout efface par le temps and promptly split after the recording. .
Contrastate were formed in 1987 by Stephen Meixner and Jonathan Grieve. Their initial musical ventures were of a more improvisational nature, based on noise and volume (not to be confused with power electronics). Sounds emerged, sub-merged and re-emerged at varying painfully low frequencies with extremes of treble tonality. The idea was physical confrontation through sound. Nothing was ever released by Contrastate in this form, although some influences from this era are present on the first Lp “Seven hands seek nine fingers”. Drive A got its start when Bruno met up with rhythm guitarist Jason Nott and the two began developing their own style and a band was formed. Once they honed their approach, the two hooked up with Taylor Knowles on bass and Cody Root on drums. With all the pieces in place, the four began writing songs that had a remarkably developed blend of killer riffs, punk rock hooks, and a raw, Rock ‘N’ Roll gutter-snarl. A lot of his tracks and remixes received great feedback on the web and this inspired him to take it to the next level.
