Affectionately known as 'Bulbul' (nightingale) for his melodic voice, Khalid hails from Lyon, France though he was born in Casablanca, Morocco in 1969. Khalid began singing from the tender age of 7 and in the late 90s he was lead vocalist in the French based band 'Badr'. His albums 'Les Noms de Dieu' (The Names of God) and 'Paroles Veridiques' (True Word) were both released in France in 2002. Khalid is American singer/songwriter from El Paso, Texas. He burst onto the music scene with his first single "Location", which received great critical acclaim and praised for his soulful, gentle and mellifluous voice perfectly suitable for a retro soul. Started when he was only 18, fresh from the halls of high school, his music is full of youthful innocence and poetic passion. Bodhi Khalid belongs to the so-called New Age group of musicians. The folk-rock musician was brought up near Hamburg. He discovered the spititual dimensions of music from traveling to India and from meditation. Bodhi Khalid avoids using typical New Age keyboards and he prefers the authentic sound and a nice groove.
