There are several bands named Mayday. Mayday is also well known as a recording moniker of Derrick May. One is a metallic hardcore band from Virginia Beach, Virginia in the 1990s. They released two 7"s, a 10" and a split with Integrity. While they were never particularly popular, they were fairly influential as one of the first hardcore bands to incorporate very overt metal elements. The other is an indie rock band from Nebraska. Mayday Parade was born in 2005 when two popular Tallahassee bands, Kid Named Chicago and Defining Moment, decided to merge and form one group. Both bands had been friends for a long time but they each seemed to have different kind of holdups. They pooled their resources, booted out the undedicated members and decided to take the good from each band and move forward. Graeme Elston's first band, which later led to Pure/Eva Luna, Astronaut and Slipslide. (The Gravy Train was another splinter band from Love Parade.) Their first release was a flexi on Stephen Maughan's Dolphin 7 label in 1989, and it came with his This Almighty Pop! fanzine. The only proper vinyl releases were the eps "Lazy Days" and "The Guilt Chest", both on German label A Turntable Friend (1990). Japanese fans could rejoice over a cassette compiling all those songs plus a few extras, called "Past Crimes". This tape is supposedly from 1991. .
お遊戯ゎが魔々団×【PaRADEiS】 (now known as simply Paradeis) is an Oshare Kei band from Osaka, Japan. The band formed in May of 2008 and is currently signed to Planet CHILD Music. They released their first single, パンドラの箱, on June 4th of that year. Since then they have released 5 more Maxi-singles, one Mini-Album, one Full album and a Live DVD. They have also been featured on 2 Various Artist compilation albums.
