1. Bauer is the artist name of Amsterdam-based musician, singer and songwriter, Berend Dubbe (once the drummer of indie rockers, Bettie Serveert).
Bauer started out as a one-man project in 1999 and is, as of 2016, once again a one-man project (with a backing band when performing live). Between 2000 and 2006 Bauer was presented as a chamber pop duo, comprised of Dubbe and Sonja van Hamel. Bauer's elegantly arranged chamber pop is strongly influenced by artists such as Brian Wilson, Burt Bacharach, Stereolab and Scott Walker.

Frans Bauer was born in Roosendaal, The Netherlands, on 30 December 1973. He is a popular Dutch singer of the so called "levenslied" ("song about life"). He grew up in a trailerpark in Fijnaart.
Already in his youth, Frans Bauer wanted to become a singer after he was inspired by Julio Iglesias, Elvis Presley and Koos Alberts (a Dutch singer). Bauer's own singing career started in 1987 when he recorded his first single, "Ben Je Jong" (Are You Young), under supervision of Dutch producers Rudi Schreijenberg and Emile Hartkamp.
In January 1992 he met his later wife-to-be, Mariska van Rossenberg....
Matt Bauer grew up in Kentucky, and his music is rooted in the sounds and natural surroundings of the region. His melodies and banjo style bear the markings of traditional mountain music, bluegrass and early country, but his sound is distinctly contemporary. The lyrics live unflinchingly in the present and the arrangements draw on influences as varied as gamelan orchestras and post-rock.
