金子マリ (Mari Kaneko) is a rock/pop singer born on Dec. 1, 1954. Her style is often said to be reminiscent of Janis Joplin. In 1972, she met the popular guitarist Char and they formed the band スモーキー・メディスン ("Smoky Medicine"). She released her first solo album, MARI FIRST in 1983 and continues to produce solo music, participate in bands, contribute guest vocals and perform live to this day. She is also the mother of RIZE drummer Nobuaki Kaneko and bassist KenKen (real name Kensuke Kaneko). They perform together occasionally. .
