Black noise is a combination of Black Metal and Noise music. The result usually bears little resemblance to traditional black metal and could be considered more akin to industrial/dark ambient soundscapes, i.e. a harsher and less rhythmic take on black industrial. However, there is often a significant harsh noise influence that causes the music to have a more atonal, improvisational feel. Many bands of this genre are relatively unknown due to the extremely low production and esoteric nature of their music.
