The djembe drum is a goblet shaped hand drum from the region around Guinea and Mali in West Africa.
In recent years it has become very popular all over Africa and the world. This is partly due to several Masters that tour and teach all over the world, and certainly also due to the appeal of the instrument itself.
There is plenty of traditional djembe music in the form of Albums from the likes of Mamady Keita and Famoudou Konate. There are also more contemporary arrangements from the likes of Sougalo Coulibaly.
Serveral Western artists such and Ben Harper and Paul Simon have incorporated the instrument into their music.
