Electroacoustic music is based on manipulation of acoustically-played ("unplugged") music with Experimental Electronic ("plugged") techniques such as loops, feedback, layering, delay, static/noise, backwards sampling, etc. Electroacoustic music is generally played on Orchestral-based instruments like cello and woodwinds. Live performances tend to feature one or more people on acoustic instruments(s), and another group member sitting at a laptop computer applying the sound processing techniques in real-time. Important electroacoustic composers include Mauricio Kagel, Bernard Parmegiani and Karlheinz Stockhausen.
