Winston "Delano" Stewart was born in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1947. While still in his teens he recorded several ska tracks with Harris "B.B." Seaton for the legendary Coxsone Dodd at Studio One, as part of the duo Winston & Bibby. In the late '60s Stewart and Seaton recruited a third singer, Maurice Roberts, and formed the Gaylads, one of Jamaica's finest three-part harmony trios. The CD starts with the hot Latin flavored "Sista Caliente." Andre teams with Arranger-Producer Sir Gant (Anita Baker, Peabo Bryson, Madonna) on the reggae...
French ensemble, The Delano Orchestra, use everything from the bouzouki to the glockenspiel to craft their elegant understated tracks, but it’s the soft-spoken, whispered vocals that create their intimate sound. Scratchy electric guitars and soothing trumpets fill out the somber “Between Day and Night” while the melody of “Spread Our Little Wings” exudes a warming charm. Both tracks are from their endearingly-named debut album A little girl, a little boy, and all the snails they have drawn. .
Delano was a three-piece from Portland, Oregon in the mid-90s. They played music that could casually be referred to as indie jazz, much akin to The Sea and Cake. They recorded a five song demo cassette with Brady Grieg at Resin 67 Studios. .
