George The Poet is George Mpanga (born 1991) is a British spoken word artist with an interest in social and political issues. Born to Ugandan parents on the St Raphael's Estate in Harlesden, London, George began performing rap and grime when he was 15 years old. He attended Queen Elizabeth's School in Barnet and studied politics, psychology and sociology at King's College, Cambridge. In May 2012, he premiered the piece My City. There are at least 6 bands called The Poets: 1) Band was discovered in it's native Scotland by Andrew Loog Oldham in 1964, signed to Decca that same year and to his Immediate Records label in 1966.
