Mark has been writing and recording his own songs since 1985. He has been influenced and inspired by 60's pop, 70's punk & new wave, 80's indie & alternative and 90's Brit Pop. In the early 90s he adopted the name, "The Shining Hour" and has produced a number of home made CD albums. In 1998, Germany's Apricot Records released a limited edition 7 inch single EP entitled "Five o'Clock Rise" which sold out. Horntveth..s musical skills are self taught, starting Jaga Jazzist when he was 15 years old. Since then he has created five albums with the band.
