There are at least two artists by the name of Predawn: 1. Guitarist and singer-songwriter Miwako Shimizu began her solo project Predawn in 2008. The name was inspired by Mimei Ogawa (1882-1961), the father of modern Japanese children's literature. Predawn is based in Tokyo but she has performed at many festivals in Japan including Fuji Rock Festival and apbank fes in 2009 and 2010. In June 2010, she released her first mini-album, 手のなかの鳥 (Te no naka no tori, "A Bird in the Hand"), which she recorded by herself and on which she played all instruments. Finnish Before The Dawn was a Melodic Death/Gothic Metal band that saw daylight in 1999 as a solo project by Tuomas Saukkonen. The first line-up was gathered so that the band would be able to perform live. With many changes inside the band, they entered the studio to record an MCD called Gehenna. After two albums (My Darkness and 4.17 am) and numerous changes in the line-up, Tuomas gathered an entirely new line-up in 2005 and went on to record the album The Ghost. The songs that didn't fit on this album were released on Tuomas' other project Dawn of...
Formerly a thrash-death metal band known as MORG (as in “Morgue”), the members of Russian prog band AZAZELLO had some fun shocking pop audiences in the early 90's and then completely reinvented themselves. In fact, through the course of three albums, they have almost completely abandoned the metal genre for some truly progressive endeavours. Despite the English title tracks, they sing in Russian (although 90% of their repertoire is strictly instrumental). They are led by vocalist, guitarist and arranger Alexander Kulak who also composes most of the material. .
Unusual among bands associated with stoner rock and doom metal, Cambian Dawn displayed prog rock and classic rock influences as well as good old early 90s Seattle grunge. The band's final (and finest) recording, the "Wolves In The Springtime” EP, was released on the 18th of June 2007 and is available to download from all major digital services, with 12” Vinyl and compact disc available from VillainousRecords.com. Cambian Dawn's personnel are currently missing, presumed drunk. .
