This former pro basketballer has been dropping mixtapes to anyone who'll listen since 1984. As chief music provider for local breakers DJ Soup grew to his stature in hip-hop developing production skills on crude sampling equipment in luxurious 8bit format. Founding the Fonke Knomaads, Soup became producer, DJ and part time MC for the far left field Sydney Hip-hop duo. They released a 5 track E.P. called "The Hills Are Alive With The Sound Of..." on the now defunct label PoBoy records (label demise not attributed to the knomaads in any way shape or form!). Soup grew on to release "Deadbeat" featuring tracks from Sydney Producer Avene and the groundbreaking Trip-Hop Album "Souperloops" on Creative Vibes. The term -Sampology- was coined and Soup's name began popping up internationally spurring on many clones, unequal in skill and craftsmanship to the original. Further releases include collabs with Sleek the Elite, the mini album "Eclectro" and the feature length album "From Anuva Planet" featuring The Gift of Gab from Blackalicious, also Swollen Members and Pheonix. Soup's latest release is named "Beatroot-The Edible Root of the Beat" out on invada records and is true to form with a variety of hip-hop and electronic styles to keep those toes wiggling.
