Death In Texas is an alternative duo based in London.

Ruth Power (then Searle) met Kane Power while both studying for music degrees in their native New Zealand in 2004. The pair began working on music together a few years later, combining Ruth’s classical piano training with Kane’s hardcore and metal background.

They relocated to London in 2009 and formed Death In Texas, self-releasing a debut EP/demo 'We Will Implode' in 2011.

After two years (and as many bassists) gigging in and around London and throughout the UK, Death In Texas recorded four songs that would eventually make up the 'Pluck' EP released in 2013. After a nationwide tour in support of the release, seeming to have lost their bassist along the way, Ruth and Kane decided to take heed of this apparent bassist curse and continue on as a duo.

The now husband and wife team ceased all live shows to focus on discovering a new, more refined and relaxed sound, taking influence from acts such as Hiatus Kaiyote, Glassjaw, Toe, Radiohead, Crosses, Mogwai, Nine Inch Nails and Chelsea Wolfe.

In June 2014 Death In Texas began recording for their debut full-length album to be self-released in November 2014. Recorded at a combination of studios in London, produced by the band, mixed by Eduardo De La Paz (Rae Morris, Arcade Fire, The Horrors, The National) and mastered by Richard Whittaker (The Who, The Clash), 'Pause Between Breaths' is a clear graduation in sound from their previous material. At equal measures ambient and ferocious, Death In Texas thrive on provoking emotion and pulling the listener into a full immersive experience.
