The Laze are a six piece progressive rock band with classical, soundtrack and psychedelic influences. They are Liverpool based and periodically run the club night Valhalla.

Their concept album Spacetime Fabric Conditioner is a sonic story following Desmond Ultor's escapist impulses. Des Ultor is a citizen of The Bubble, an enclosed city of the future. He awakes one morning with an overwhelming sense of dread and decides he must leave his home. The album trails Ultor through radioactive wastelands, rituals with pagan cults, sermons from Time Horse, sacred megaliths in medieval hamlets until his inevitable journey into space.

"Then in Zion, where all you see is streaks of colour, backlit by synthesised moods, Ξ€Ξ—Ξž LΔΖΣ are spinning towards the earth from behind the solar eclipse all slow motion and holographic with the clouds bleeding across the sky like coloured dye dropped into water. What begins as John Carpenter ’70s horror-house thumps, soon transmogrifies into medieval prog-rave vs. whimsical melodic alien folk that teases and taunts the artwork from Hawkwind LPs into life, strange creatures that congregate around the stone altar at cobalt-blue midnite awaiting the virgin sacrifice with reverie but are given instead a wicker man constructed from synthesiser circuit boards and the dials and keys from butchered mellotrons, all bound together with guitar strings and duct tape. They light the power chord trailing from the foot as the music strikes up." - http://www.20JAZZFUNKGREATS.com

"Such is the propulsion of their cosmic rhythms you could filter this through the tube speakers and find the entire commuter belt vibrating involuntarily in some kind of bizarre progothon beatdown... positively life-affirming" - Liverpool Daily Post .
