The Plugin starts from the joint effort of Ignacio Redard Davis and Rodrigo Aboitiz. Ignacio, son of an American mother and a Chilean father, was raised in Mount Vernon, Missouri, and then traveled to Chile, where he got a major in Marketing & Advertising and decided to live in Santiago. There, he used his knowledge of the English language to teach it for a living. Meanwhile, in early 2006 he met Rodrigo Aboitiz, founder and former keyboardist for the successful Chilean pop band La Ley, which sold over 1 million records in all Latin America, and received MTV awards, Latin Grammys and a Grammy Award for Best Latin Rock Band in the U.S.
In 2008, Ignacio and Rodrigo join Alejandro Sanfuentes, former La Ley manager, and give life to The Plugin, fusing the musical influences of both members of the band.
This is how they start their career via Myspace as of January 1st, 2009, releasing their first independent song and video, ‘Like a Knife’, for which they received great comments from their growing listener base.
Currently, The Plugin are awaiting the release of their first album, snippets of which can be heard on this page. These and other songs from their debut album will be played live as of October 2009, in a tour that will cover a few cities to be announced.
