There are at least 4 groups going under this name, a Canadian rock band, a man band from the UK, a hip hop group from Australia, a Beijing based instrumental Emo band and alternative rock band from Myanmar (Burma).

1. The Reason is a Canadian rock band, formed by Adam White and James Nelan in 2003. Adam White (vocals) and James "Cubby" Nelan (guitar) formed The Reason in late 2003 after the passing of their punk rock band, Sewing With Nancie. Eventually adding Erik Mikalauskas (guitar), Cam Bordignon (drums) and Sean Palmer (bass), The Reason began to write songs and immediately released their first EP - Problems Associated With Running. The band replaced Mikalauskas with Jeremy Widerman on guitar shortly afterwards, and went on tour. They soon signed to Smallman Records & Management after the label witnessed the band performing a concert. In the 12 months that followed they played over 200 shows across Canada and the northern USA, and quickly developed poise well beyond their short existence.

1. The Reason or The Reason 4 is a band who first appeared in the 2010 X Factor. Despite not making the final 12, they have already landed themselves a record deal with Upside UK and will be getting into the studio straight to start work on their debut album due for release early 2011. The Reason is made up of Mark Higgins, Nathan Rawlins, Glenn Vine, and Scott White. .
