Бонч Бру Бонч [pron. bonch-broo-bonch] are a duo of rap MC's from Moscow, Russia: Tarantul (Yuri) writes the lyrics and Ozyab (Dmitri) is responsible for the beats.
The two have known each other since school. The duo has been recording songs since 1998, but their first step to fame was on stage of 2000 Rap Music Festival, where their performance was met with great enthusiasm gaining the band a solid fan base. A few years later they recorded the theme song for a teenage comedy Даже не думай (Don't Even Think About It).
2005 saw the release of their first LP titled Жрите Бонч. The album showcases lyrical skills of Tarantul, who pokes fun at "gangster" rap acts, drops hilarious remarks about everyone from pop stars to the President and church leaders. The album also covers other themes ever-present on a rap record: girls, partying, fame, paying homages and the such. At times serious, often sarcastic, the album may be called anything but politically correct. The record was warmly met by the fans.
The band rarely does live shows.
Both Tarantul and Ozyab have degrees in law. .
