Mohammad is the doom chamber music project of Coti K, Ilios and Nikos Veliotis formed in 2009 in Athens, Greece. Having worked separately in the experimental field they decided to join forces in order to study and work on the principles of inter-modulation using contra-bass (Coti K), oscillators (Ilios) and cello (Nikos Veliotis). Hussein El Masry is a composer, singer and also a virtuoso oud player. Born in 1952 in Cairo, Egypt he studied in Cairo's Institute of Arab Music. He moved to Paris, France in 1977. He participated in the International Oud Meeting held on November 29th and 30th and December 1st 2002 which took place in the Municipal Theater of Kalamaria, Thessaloniki, Greece with Yurdal Tokcan, Simon Shaheen and Haig Yazdjian among other oud players. Afghan rebâb virtuoso Ustad Mohammad Omar, who was born sometime in the early 20th century, came to the United States in 1974 to Seattle’s University of Washington as an artist-in residence in the ethnomusicology department. On 18 November 1974, he gave his only U.S. concert, at the university’s Meany Hall. He was accompanied by 24-year-old Zakir Hussain, a budding Indian tabla player. Hussain went on to become a world-renowned tabla virtuoso. Ustad Mohammad Omar returned to Afghanistan after his year in Seattle and died in 1980. .
