The National is a Brooklyn-based alternative rock band formed in 1999, by friends from Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. The band's lyrics are written and sung by Matt Berninger in a distinctive, deep baritone. The rest of the band is composed of two pairs of brothers: Aaron Dessner (guitar, bass, keyboards), Bryce Dessner (guitar), Scott Devendorf (bass, guitar) and Bryan Devendorf (drums). Their self-titled debut album"The National" (Brassland 2001) was recorded and released before they had played even a single show. They cut the album with engineer Nick Lloyd and formed a label with writer Alec Bemis, so those recordings could be...
http://www.myspace.com/nationalbr National is an experimental electronic duo Agnaldo Mori (teclados e efeitos) and Glauco Félix (teclados, guitarra, DJ efeitos) from Sao Paulo, Brazil. They work with all kinds of homemade experimentations with music. With many different instruments, lots of keyboards and synthesizers, guitars, pianos, computers, sequencers, samplers and voice effects, they produce an unclassifiable and eclectic electronic sound. They are extremely eccentric and they do everything themselves, on their own homes and on their own equipment, from the compositions and recordings to the production of the CDs and the jewel boxes and the sleeves. The duo has been together for...
Dirty Dancing is a duo comprised of multi-instrumentalist Eric Schoen, who previously fronted Electric Pants in Milwaukee, and Lauren Mikus, who previously sang for the NY band The Midnight Hours... The Dirty Dancing sound is at times all of the above: lo-fi, noisy, angular and anthemic, with touches of darkwave, a post-punk edge, a reverbed atmosphere, and handclaps galore. Depending on the track, you can hear influences as varied as The Kills, Joy Division, Velvet Underground, The Stooges, The Gun Club, Talking Heads, and even a little T. Rex... http://www.myspace.com/drtydancing It may also appear here due to incorrectly tagged tracks....
One of many bands that never seemed to get their due during their existence, THE NATIONAL ACROBAT established a legacy that finds the band reaching nearer to legendary status as each year passes. Its members have gone on to form the backbone of Louisville, Kentucky’s current indie music scene in BLACK CROSS (Equal Vision Records), CHRISTIANSEN (Revelation Records), BREATHER RESIST (Deathwish Inc), and Initial’s newest signing – LORDS. Along with their friends and contemporaries in CAVE IN, ISIS, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, BURN IT DOWN, HARKONEN, ANODYNE, BURNT BY THE SUN, KEELHAUL and others, they were part of a brief...
The Dancing Cigarettes, from Bloomington, Indiana, were a post-punk/new wave group that existed from 1979-1983. There were some lineup changes over that span, but typically the band consisted of singer/guitarist Michael Gitlin, bassist Emily Bonus, keyboardist and multi -instrumentalist Tim Noe, saxophonist Don Trubey, percussionist, synth player and vocalist Jaclyn Oddi, and drummer John Terrill. The band cannot be categorized very easily, as their quirky and frenetic sound mixes elements of garage punk, bouncy Devo-esque new wave, Beefheart-like avant-rock with dissonant squonky horns, and even aspects of atonal no-wave bands lilke DNA (for whom they opened). They recorded an EP for...
