The Waking Eyes is a rock band from Winnipeg, Manitoba and Steinbach, Manitoba. Its current members are Rusty Matyas, Matt Peters, Steve Senkiw and Joey Penner. The band formed after the break-up of two other Manitoba bands, The Pets from Steinbach, and Novillero from Winnipeg. In 2005 the group was nominated for a Juno Award for New Group of the Year but lost to Alexisonfire. .

In an effort to promote the conscious exploration of self, WAKING speaks to the hearts and minds of its audiences through aggressive hard rock riffs, dynamic musical composition, and a strong melodic sense. Though their sound can be compared to modern rock greats such as A Perfect Circle and Staind, the band’s sound is unique and speaks to audiences who crave moving and intelligent music.
