Rogue Wave is an alternative rock band from Oakland, California, formed in 2002. They are headed by Zach Schwartz (aka Zach Rogue), who created the band after losing his job in the dot-com bust. Their first album was Out of the Shadow which was written, recorded and produced entirely by Zach Rogue (except the drums) - released privately in 2003 and finally re-released in 2004 on Subpop. Austin, Texas-based duo The Wind and The Wave are Dwight Baker and Patricia Lynn. (Dwight is “The Wind” and Patty is “The Wave.”) The two met in 2009 when Dwight, a touring musician turned songwriter and producer, who’s worked with such artists as Bob Schneider and Brandi Carlile, was urged by his wife to actually leave his studio (“I’m kind of a hermit,” he says) and go see a friend’s band. Cocteau Twins were an innovative and influential Scottish dream pop band. Forming in 1979 in Grangemouth, Scotland, UK (the name taken from an obscure song by fellow Scots Simple Minds), they built a sound based on woozy atmospherics and singer Elizabeth Fraser's unmatchable vocals, most of which featured lyrics of made-up words and words plucked at random from the dictionary.
