The Fashionistas are a band in Brooklyn, NY who formed in Rochester, NY around 2004, in the basement of the legendary Kingsboro house - a part-time party venue that hosted bands like Que Pasa, Gak Attack!, Monkey Space Station, and Caboose At Last. The band started when drummer, Matt Nicole, began playing music with bassist, Peter Mulroy, when both of Nicole's legs were broken and in full casts. Formed amidst the tourist traps, nude beaches, and raging college students of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Fashionista's anglophiles evoke the rainier sound of Brit-pop from Blur to Pulp. Bandmembers Anthony Fashion (vocals, guitar), Howard Melnick (guitar), Jarrod Rose (bass, vocals), George Borghi (Juno 6), and Asif Ali (drums) were brought together by a mutual love of Bowie, glam rock, and shoegazers like Spacemen 3 and My Bloody Valentine.
