The original Gym Class Heroes formed in 1997 when Travis "Schleprok" McCoy and drummer Matt McGinley became friends during physical education class while at high school in Geneva, New York, US and joined forces with guitarist Milo Bonacci and bassist Ryan Geise. The original GCH began playing birthday parties, clubs, and festivals which eventually led to numerous larger venues throughout the northeast, including four years on Warped Tour (2003, 2004, 2006, 2008). Weekend Heroes are Felix Timelock and Eli DJ Zombi, oldtime players in global electronic scene. The Myddle Class consisted of Dave Palmer (vocals), Rick Philp (guitar), Danny Mansolino (organ), Charles Larkey (bass), and Michael "Myke" Rosa (drums). The name of the group early on was The King Bees (1964) and were from the Passaic Valley area of New Jersey. They changed their name to The Myddle Class in 1965. They signed with Tomorrow label, which was part of Atlantic-Atco, and released "Free As The Wind" in December of 1965. It was written by Goffin and King. The flip side was Dylan's "Gates of Eden". The Heroes are an Indie/Mod/Punk band formed in Leicester during April 07. They have had a number of member changes, but found the right line up in August 09. Their main influences are The Libertines, The Jam and The Clash, but there are elements and influences from much more. In 2008 The Heroes opened the Mainstage of the Summer Sundae Weekender 2008, built a fanbase and created the clubnight 'OVERDRIVE' which has proven to be one of the biggest clubnights the midlands have to offer.
