Jimmy Sommers was first smitten with the saxophone when he was still a grade school student in his native area of Chicago. "The sax just seemed so cool" says Sommers recollecting on those days. His affinity and aptitude for the sax progressed to a point where he has become one of the hottest names on the world's smooth jazz circuit. His new album "Sunset Collective" continues Sommers' path of bringing a little hipness and edge to the smooth jazz world. As with his previous albums (James Cafe, 360 Urban Groove, Lovelife) he collaborates with some of the most reknown artists...
Jimmy Eat World formed in Mesa, Arizona, United States in 1993. They are associated with an array of genres including emo, alternative rock, indie rock and pop punk. Singer/guitarist Jim Adkins and drummer Zach Lind, who had been friends since kindergarten, joined forces with co-vocalist/guitarist Tom Linton and bass player Mitch Porter to try their hand at music. In its early years the band emulated the style of their punk rock influences, and they eventually recorded and released three singles and a full-length, self-titled album on local label Wooden Blue Records. The name Jimmy Eat World did not refer to...
Jimmy Nail is an English actor and pop/country singer (born March 16, 1954, Gleneagles Close, Benton, Newcastle-upon-Tyne). He is famous for his rugged looks, hit singles and a strong Geordie accent. Nail rose to fame playing Leonard Jeffrey 'Oz' Osborne in Auf Wiedersehen, Pet in 1983, despite having no acting experience whatsoever (he had appeared as an extra in the movie Get Carter). Nail has also starred in a number of films and had a long musical career, having been a singer before he was picked out at an audition to play Oz. After the first two series of Auf...
For anyone looking to brand Jason Aldean as part of a significant musical movement, good luck. But none of what he does comes out quite like anyone else. The blues-tinged licks at the end of his phrases—there’s a ring of familiarity about them, but you can’t really link them to another artist. The smoky guitar riffs that have become a...
Jimmy Gilmer & the Fireballs, sometimes referred to as just The Fireballs, were an American rock and roll group particularly popular at the end of the 1950's through to the early 1960's. The original line-up consisted of Chuck Tharp (vocals), George Thomsco (lead guitar), Dan Trammell (rhythm guitar), Stan Lark (bass), and Eric Budd (drums). The Fireballs were formed in Raton, New Mexico, and received minimal success in the late 50's, until Tharp, Budd and Trammell left the group in the early 1960's. They were replaced by Doug Roberts on drums and Jimmy Gilmer on vocals. Renaming themselves Jimmy Gilmer...
