ELLEGARDEN is a punk rock group that formed in December of 1998 in Chiba, Japan. It includes drummer Hirotaka Takahashi, vocalist Takeshi Hosomi, guitarist Shinichi Ubakata, and bassist Yuichi Takada. As of May 2, 2008, Ellegarden's leader Ubukata Shinichi announced an indefinite hiatus of the band. All previously decided shows (including shows not yet announced) up until early September 2008 will still be performed. Though they are on hiatus, the vocalist, Hosomi, has repeatedly stated that they will not be breaking up anytime soon, and will be back on the stage performing again in the future. Applegarden is a dance-act/producing-trio, based in Rotterdam (NL) Their first musical collaboration resulted in the independent album release of "Applegarden" (2002), an eclectic Vaudeville exploration, that got national attention. The trio prolonged their collaboration. During their first public performances around the underground music scene and artists-initiatives in the lower parts of the lowlands, Applegarden moved away from their first album towards a more dance-oriented repertoire. This project was founded in 1993 as a colaboration of the former cult-project Ars Moriendi by Phillip Münch (Synapscape) and Andreas Schramm (Asche). The aim is very dense, ritual-ambient sounds. In 1995 Andrea Börner (Morgenstern) joined this project. They made several interesting live-performances all over Germany. Actually Templegarden's is organized as a loose collective with several friends (among whom are Leigh Hunt and Raison d'Etre), so the sound-variety has become enormous; but always in the mystic ritual sector.
