Kojiro Umezaki grew up in Tokyo, Japan where he began studying Western flute and the shakuhachi. His career encompasses both traditional and technology-based music and a range of electronic media. “My mother is from Denmark and my father is Japanese. My multinational background may be one of the reasons why I don’t limit myself to the traditional repertoire. In all my work, I try to put the shakuhachi in a more contemporary, musically diverse context. "Guajiro" learnt trumpet at a very young age and began playing playing professionally in 1951. He joined the jazz band ‘Swing Casino’ on 1953 before forming the ‘Conjunto Rumbavana’ three years later. In 1960, he joined the ‘Orquesta Riverside,’ whose singer Tito Gomez gave him his nickname ‘Guajiro’ Mirabal. There followed spells with various orchestras including ‘Orquesta del ICRT,’ the official orchestra of Cuban state radio and television.[1] In 1996 "Guajiro" became one of the Cuban musicians who joined American guitarist Ry Cooder for the Buena Vista Social Club collaboration.[2] [1] "Guajiro" went on to play a prominent role playing...

He was born in 1985 in Ústí nad Orlicí (Czech Republic). He plays 5 instruments (keyboards, drums, trumpet, flute and guitar), but his main instrument are keyboards. His music is positive, funny, high-melodic and energic. Everything on his records is only his work. Oh - I forgot - he plays key-drums too:-). Also he is the member of legendary group JOHELLZAK.
