Тартак ([tɑr'tɑk]) is a popular rapcore, punk rock and hip-hop crossover band from Ukraine. They mix these styles to produce energetic compositions and lyrics. Oleksandr (Sashko) Polozhynskyj and Vasyl Zinkevytch junior founded the group in the autumn of 1996 in Lutsk, Ukraine. The band was named by Sashko."Тартак" means woodsaw in Ukrainian. Макс Барских [Max Barskih] (born 8 March, 1990 as Николай Бортник [Nikolay Bortnik]) is a singer from Kherson, Ukraine. After graduating he moved to Kiev where he entered the Music Academy for pop singers. In 2008 he entered the second season of Ukranian Star Factory and became finalist.
