Newbreed is a broad, meta-genre gehstalt made from the explosion of new electronic genres that started to emerge from the Internet in the late 2000s and early 2010s. It is a broad category of music, including (or influenced by) chillwave, vaporwave, seapunk, witch house, trillwave, future garage, psychedelic, gothic, ambient, neoclassical, dream pop, lo-fi, new wave, chopped and screwed, drone, juke, footwork, grave rave, cyberpunk, outrun, coldwave, nu gaze, slutwave, broken-clash, avant-garde, sissy bounce, zombie rave, aquacrunk, warlock, oceangrunge, icepunk, post-punk, post-chillwave, post-futurepop, post-dubstep, post-rave, eccojams, etheral, industrial, electro, shoegaze, laptopgaze, cloud rap, trap and many others.
Due to many disliking and rejecting the term "newbreed", some have taken the same concept and started calling it futurewave instead. Since a large number of these genres start with "future-" or end with "-wave" it may be a bit more clear and intuitive. .
