Red and anarchist black metal (RABM) is a subgenre of black metal that focuses on leftist politics, in contrast to the right-wing focus of National Socialist black metal (NSBM). However, it must be pointed out that RABM exists not just to counter NSBM but to advocate for causes and political philosophies such as anarchism, communism, environmentalism, feminism, and LGBT causes, among others. The RABM subgenre tends to have an affinity with Cascadian black metal and with crust punk. .
